ABV Calculator

Calculate the approximate alcohol content and apparent attenuation of your beer using the Original Gravity and Final Gravity.

OG is the specific gravity measured before fermentation. FG is the specific gravity measured after fermentation. You can enter gravity as either 1.055 or 1055.

IBU Calculator

Estimate the bitterness of your beer using the Tinseth method. Add each hop addition separately to calculate the total IBU.

Hop Additions
Alpha Acid % can be found on your hop package. Enter each boil hop addition separately.

Example: Cascade 25 g · 7% AA · 60 min.

Whirlpool and dry hop bitterness is more difficult to predict, so this calculator is primarily intended for traditional boil additions.

Hydrometer Correction Calculator

Correct a hydrometer gravity reading when your wort or beer is measured at a temperature different from the hydrometer's calibration temperature.

You can enter either 1.050 or 1050.
Temperature of the wort or beer when the reading was taken.
Check your hydrometer scale or instructions if unsure.
Hydrometers are calibrated to give an accurate reading at a specific temperature, commonly 20 °C.

If the sample is warmer or colder than the calibration temperature, the density of the liquid changes and the observed gravity reading should be corrected.

For the most accurate brewing measurements, allow the sample to cool close to the hydrometer's calibration temperature whenever practical.

Temperature correction is an estimate. Accuracy decreases as the sample temperature moves farther from the hydrometer calibration temperature.

Refractometer Calculator

Convert Brix to Specific Gravity or correct refractometer readings after fermentation has started.

Brix to Specific Gravity

Enter your Brix reading.

Fermentation Correction

Use this calculator when fermentation has already started.

Enter the original and current Brix readings.

Brewing Water Calculator

Build your brewing water profile and calculate recommended mineral additions.

WATER VOLUME

Enter the total amount of water you want to treat.

YOUR SOURCE WATER

Enter the mineral profile of the water you are actually using. Values should be entered in ppm (mg/L). For RO or distilled water, enter 0 or use your measured values if available.

TARGET WATER PROFILE

Enter the mineral profile you would like to achieve.

RECOMMENDED MINERAL ADDITIONS

Approximate additions for the full water volume.

Gypsum CaSO₄·2H₂O 0.0 g
Calcium Chloride CaCl₂·2H₂O 0.0 g
Epsom Salt MgSO₄·7H₂O 0.0 g
Baking Soda NaHCO₃ 0.0 g
Enter your source and target water profiles, then press Calculate.

Magnesium (Mg) — —
Sodium (Na) — —
Chloride (Cl) — —
Sulfate (SO₄) — —
Bicarbonate (HCO₃) — —
SO₄ : Cl Ratio — Calculate your profile to see the balance.
Important: Mineral additions affect more than one ion at the same time. Some target profiles cannot be reproduced exactly using these salts. The calculator therefore searches for a practical profile that is as close as possible to the values you entered.

Recipe Scaling Calculator

Scale your beer recipe to a new batch size while keeping the original ingredient proportions.

BATCH SIZE

Enter the original recipe volume and your desired new batch size.

Scaling Factor: 0.800×

FERMENTABLES

Add malts, grains, sugar or other fermentable ingredients. Enter the original amount in kilograms.

Ingredient Original (kg) Scaled (kg)

HOPS

Enter the original hop amount in grams. Timing is preserved and is not changed by recipe scaling.

Hop Original (g) Timing Scaled (g)

YEAST

Yeast is scaled proportionally by quantity. For precise pitching, consider wort gravity, yeast age and cell count.

Yeast Original Amount Scaled Amount

OTHER INGREDIENTS

Add fruit, spices, brewing salts, finings or other ingredients. Choose the appropriate unit for each item.

Note: This calculator scales ingredient quantities proportionally to batch volume. Mash efficiency, hop utilization, brewhouse losses and yeast pitching requirements may change when scaling between substantially different brewing systems.

Brewhouse Efficiency Calculator

Calculate how efficiently your brewing system converts the potential extract from your fermentables into wort collected in the fermenter.

Fermentables
Enter the amount of wort that actually reached your fermenter, not the pre-boil volume.

The calculator compares the gravity points collected in the fermenter with the theoretical extract potential of your fermentables.

The listed malt potentials are typical reference values. Actual extract potential varies by maltster and product. Use Custom Potential when you have the exact specification from the malt analysis sheet.

Utilities, Packaging & Other Costs

Optional
Total brewing and cleaning water if desired.
Mashing, boiling, pumps, cooling etc.
Leave blank if brewing electrically.
Brewing salts, acids, Campden, etc.
Cleaner, sanitizer and related consumables.
Bottles, caps, labels, priming sugar, etc.
Carbonation, purging and serving allocation.
Fruit, spices, filters or any other expense.
How it works: enter the package size, package price and the amount actually used in your recipe. The calculator automatically charges only the portion consumed in this batch.

Example: a 100 g hop package costs €8 and you use 65 g. The hop cost for the batch is automatically calculated as €5.20.

Currency conversion is not performed. All prices should be entered in the currency selected above.
