Original professional coil machine from my personal collection
This classic brass coil tattoo machine has been part of my personal equipment since 2009, when I purchased it through Tattoomedia.
It was supplied by Inspire Tattoo Supplies Ltd, a British tattoo equipment company based in Chesterfield, England. Inspire had been operating since the early 2000s and was part of the UK professional tattoo-supply scene for many years. The company has since ceased trading, making surviving older equipment from the brand increasingly interesting as a piece of tattooing history.
A Classic Heavy Brass Coil Machine
This is a traditional electromagnetic coil tattoo machine, built around a substantial brass frame.
It comes from an era when coil machines were still the standard tools in professional tattooing, long before lightweight rotary pens and wireless machines became dominant.
The machine has a wonderfully old-school feel: heavy, mechanical and unmistakably built in the style of traditional professional tattoo equipment.
The brass frame has developed the character you would expect from a machine of this age, and its weight gives it a very different feel from today’s lightweight tattoo machines.
Condition
Although this machine dates from 2009, it has been well cared for.
Before being offered for sale, I completely disassembled it, carefully cleaned it, lubricated the appropriate mechanical parts and adjusted it.
It is fully functional and runs with a clean, stable sound.
There are normal signs of age and previous professional use, which I consider part of the character of a machine that has been around for more than 15 years. Please study the photographs carefully for its cosmetic condition.
Included
• Inspire brass coil tattoo machine
• Original Inspire Tattoo Supplies box
• Brass tattoo grip
The original box shows considerably more age and wear than the machine itself, but I prefer to keep it with the machine because it is part of its history.
From My Personal Collection
This isn’t a machine I bought to resell.
I bought it in 2009 and personally owned and used it during my years of tattooing. That is also why I have kept it for so long.
Today I tattoo considerably less and I am gradually reducing the amount of equipment I keep. I would rather see machines like this go to another tattoo artist, collector or studio where their history and character are appreciated than simply leave them sitting in storage.
For an old-school tattoo artist, it is still a working traditional coil machine.
For a collector, it is an original 2009 Inspire Tattoo Supplies piece with its original box.
And for a tattoo studio, it would also make a great display piece representing an earlier generation of professional tattoo equipment.
